Sustainability across the Trust
Learn more about our commitment to sustainability across the Trust
Climate change and global warming are phrases that provoke strong reactions in everyone, not least our young people. Taking action to address these issues is gaining momentum in the education sector, faster than ever before. TCSET is utterly committed to educating all our communities about living in a post carbon world, social just and sustainable world.
Following on from the DfE, launching its ‘Sustainability andClimate Change Strategy’ in April2022, there has been an update published in May 2023 with a focus on sustainability action planning.
‘By 2025, all education settings will have nominated a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan. This is a detailed plan to enable your education setting, or trust, to progress or commence sustainability initiatives. Sustainability leadership could be a group of people or an individual responsible for the development and implementation of a climate action plan.’
All our schools have a sustainability lead and this group have been meeting regularly to work on producing and finalising the action plan and to encourage small acts of greenness within their settings. Although it may feel like sustainability sits naturally within science or geography, it is actually a whole-school institutional issue, just like safeguarding and wellbeing –everyone must be involved.
