What is it?
We run training for our Early Career Teachers through our Teaching School Hub, London South, in partnership with UCL.
Training is delivered from within our Trust schools, by our teachers and leaders. It offers:
- Full ECF training to prepare new teachers for the challenges of teaching beyond their early years, and their ongoing career in the world of education.
- A dedicated training programme for all ECF Mentors to ensure they're able to give the best support possible.
The Year 1 ECT programme includes:
- One 3-hour face to face induction at the start of the year
- One 2-hour face to face seminar per half-term
- One 1-hour online seminar per half-term
- 4 hours of self-directed online learning per half-term
ECTs also receive one hour of in-school mentor support per week.
ECT Year 1 Modules:
- Autumn 1 –Enabling pupil learning
- Autumn 2 – Engaging pupils in learning
- Spring 1 and 2 – Developing quality pedagogy
- Summer 1 – Making productive use of assessment
- Summer 2 –Fulfilling professional responsibilities
In Year 2, Primary Early Career Teachers remain in their Year 1 clusters. Secondary Early Career Teachers move into subject-specialist groups where possible, led by subject experts. ECTs from EYFS and Special School settings have the option to join a specialist cluster or another cluster of their choice.
The Year 2 ECT programme includes:

- One 90-minute seminar per half-term module
- One hour of self-directed online learning per half-term module
In Year 2, ECTs also receive one hour of in-school mentor support per fortnight.

- Autumn 1 – Inquiry into enabling pupil learning
- Autumn 2 – Inquiry into engaging pupils in learning
- Spring 1,2 and Summer 1 – Evaluative inquiry focusing on ECF standards 4, 5 and 6
- Summer 2 – School visits to two different settings
